What’s Outbound Proxy, should I fill this option when I register my phone?
Definition
An outbound proxy is a dedicated network service that enables internal devices like IP phones to connect indirectly with external servers; it is mainly used in environments with firewalls or NAT, acting as a trusted intermediary to securely and smoothly relay both signaling and media traffic across network boundaries and resolve connectivity issues caused by firewall restrictions or NAT isolation.
Usage Notes
If you are using STUN or other firewall/NAT traversal tools, you do not need to fill the Outbound Proxy option. You are required to configure and enable the Outbound Proxy when there is no dedicated NAT/firewall traversal tool deployed, or when STUN fails to establish stable connectivity for signaling and media traffic, such as in strict firewall environments that block unknown outbound requests or complex NAT setups where direct terminal-to-server communication is unavailable.
